Pentax Remote Control Wireless Remote Control for Pentax K2000?
I have a new Pentax K2000 DSLR. Pentax website has 3 available remote controls: E, F, and D. Pentax K2000 is not listed in their specific products that would compatible on E, F, and D. However, I called up Pentax customer service and she said it will work on any of those 3 remote controls. Pentax K2000 is newly release in USA. I bought a generic remote control on ebay that specifically indicates Pentax K2000 E F but it didn't work.
Does anybody know or have Pentax K2000 that has a remote control that work?
Thanks Greg. Yes, the red light was blinking while on remote control mode. I checked the remote control battery and it's good. I guess the generic remote control unit is defective. Else, I have to buy remote control made by Pentax and should be F.
Hi Liz,
The Pentax K2000 manual lists only Remote F:
http://www.pentaximaging.com/files/product/K2000_IB.pdf
(see page 252)
And on the Pentax website, the "DSLR Accessories" section lists only Remote F:
http://www.pentaximaging.com/accessories/#9
Regarding your generic remote, I would check:
-- Does the red light on the front middle of the K2000 handgrip blink when you put it in self-timer mode? If not, is the camera not in self-timer mode?
To put the K2000 into self-timer mode, press the up-arrow on the back of the camera to go into Drive Mode, then press the right-arrow to select Remote Control. Optionally, you can then press the down-arrow, then the right or left arrow, to choose between no delay (takes the shot immediately) and 3-second delay. Then, press OK. The red light in the handle should start blinking, indicating that it's ready for you to press the remote control.
Also see pages 128-129 of the manual:

-- Does it work if you stand right in front of the camera and point the remote straight at it from point blank range?
Camera remotes generally do not have much range, and don't work at wide angles from the front of the camera.
-- Did the generic remote come with a battery?
If none of those steps work with your generic remote, I would order Pentax Remote F from a place where you can return it if it also does not work.

Pro Coworker Wireless Reformatting Windows XP Pro?
I've had a psycho ex coworker(s) in my computer/cell phone, etc.. so I've had to reformat my hard drive 4 times in the last two weeks since they've shut me out of my yahoo email, changed passwords and even created another user account in my computer. Mind you now - it's purely remote access somehow???
At any rate - when I do a search on .exe files, I find a ton of them in there since 4/13/08 and I'm wondering why they are still in there or it doesn't seem like a full clean reformat of Windows. In addition, it never asks me for my product code either so I'm wondering how it can be a clean slate if I'm not even prompted for the license??? I know it's a reinstallation, but still - how can I be 100% sure they're not able to get in again?
I do have Norton 360 2009 installed - of course before I connect to the internet and wireless and remote connections are turned off, but they still seem to get in somehow. Help please or send me a programmer that can help me.
Thank you
You *absolutely* need to take your computer to an experienced IT pro for a security evaluation.
Close your cell phone account and switch to a different provider. Do it by landline phone -- do NOT use your computer for ANY service changes. Call any other hacked services you have and cancel and/or change them.
Call the police, too. File a report and get their advice -- but don't expect them to offer any protection or prosecution.
If what you say is true, don't mess around with "self-help" -- get the advice and help of experienced professionals!
P.S. In this kind of situation, DON'T use Norton products. They are mostly marketing hype -- only "average" performance at best.
If you are getting re-infected after 4 formats and re-installations, you either have a static IP address and insufficient security, or you are getting re-hacked by a website you always go to -- like facebook, myspace, or something similar...
