Lcd Screen Optical Why can't I use the LCD screen outdoors as a viewfinder? Shading it doesn't help.?
I can purchase a Canon digital camera with a large 3" LCD screen with no optical viewfinder but I will have problems viewing outside or I could get a model with a small 2.5" screen with an optical viewfinder. Both models cost about the same.Will the optical viewfinder enable me to frame my photos outside? I have tried shading the LCD screen on my cell phone but it doesn't help. I don't want to get stuck with a camera that I can't use. I don't know how people use their laptops out in bright sunlight; to me it's unwatchable. I would prefer the larger screen for indoor use but most of my photography is done outside in bright sun. Any suggestions? The model with the larger screen is great indoors and is a better buy. What should I do?

My labtop's LCD screen recently busted from the inside. The display and image are completely distorted and cracked. Just the inside is busted, not the shiny black border, nor the screen itself. just the pixel sheets.

I need to get it repaired, and the cost was estimated to be around $500 at best buy, according to the "Geeks Squad". lawl.
I find that to be ridiculously over priced for just the screen. It just dosent make sense why it would cost that much.
I wanted to ask anyone with similar experience in this suituation, comments, or knowledge on how to deal with this.
Was hoping for a more economical alternative, or self fix tips, if its possible to order the part.
Geeksquad said that HP will have to provide the par, and that it will cost approx. $500. They said there is no labour fee, but thats BS. its most likely included in the $500.

Go onto ebay and type "replacement LCD Screen HP DV9000"
You will find a couple of hundred for around $100.
Fitting is relatively easy. You just need to find the "service manual" for your model online and follow the steps in it. Will take you about 45 minutes with a small screwdriver and some care.
Just remove the screen screws, the screen bezel, unplug the old screen, plug in the new one, replace all screws and you will be done.
Buy a replacement screen from a trader with a good rep on ebay.
I have done this around 8 or 9 times for different laptops. Never a problem.

Top tip: you will have a lot of screws to deal with and many of them are different lengths and sizes. Get a couple of pieces of cardboard and make a crude 2D sketch of the laptop. Poke the screws into the cardboard so that you know where they came from and it will keep them safe and easy to replace.
EDIT: I don't want to get into a flame war here but the poster "River Euphates" (below) is probably a secret shareholder in GeekSquad. His answer is just incorrect. As he should know there are only about half a dozen LCD screen manufacturers in the world and they all make decent screens. Likely the replacement screen will be from Samsung or AU Optronics and will be EXACTLY the same spec as the original. If you go for an ebay trader that has sold thousands of units and has a 99%+ feedback score then you have nothing to fear. A trader like that will offer a strong warranty and will happiy replace any screen that gets damaged in transit or has even one dead pixel.
