Lens Filter Adapter Which lens adapter and what kind of lens and external flash should i get?
So i have a canon s5 IS and i want to buy additional lens, the adapter, and external flash for it. i'm also thinking of getting a polarizer and filters. what i want to ask is suggestions as what kind (and brand) of lens, external flash, polarizer and filter i should get. what is the real difference between telephoto lenses and macro lenses? can't you take close up photos with telephoto lenses? should i get the 52mm adapter or 58mm instead? which one has more benefits to it? i don't have very much knowledge on these things yet. any help and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
The S5 IS is a point & shoot superzoom camera with 12x optical zoom (equivalent to 432mm). It does have the ability to add-on a wide converter and tele converter, as well as a close-up lens, but these are nowhere near as as good as the normal lenses found on dSLR cameras (they're only converter lenses, after all) so don't expect image quality to be too great.
You can find out which Canon ones are compatible by looking in your Advanced User Guide (pages 190-191), but I think you'd be wasting your money.
For an external flash, maybe have a look at Canon's 220EX.

that's the link to the website. i want to get a 52mm adapter.so please tell me do i have to buy both the adapter and the teleconverter lens and can i just use my adapter to use the Hoya Circular Polarizer 52mm?
You won't have to buy a teleconverter to use a filter; the 52mm adapter is threaded for 52mm accessories, including filters. A Hoya 52mm Circular Polarizer should screw directly into the adapter without problems.
Circular Polarizing Filters are used to increase color saturation, like darkening blue skies so that white clouds stand out. It eliminates reflections from non-metallic surfaces like glass and water. It helps reduce softness in scenery caused by atmospheric haze. This filter will not change the overall color balance of a photograph....
Polarizers provide color and contrast enhancement. Reflected light often shows up as whitish glare that washes out color in an image. A Polarizer corrects this problem producing deep, dramatically blue skies. It also removes glare from non-metallic surfaces, such as windows and water. Color saturation in general, especially outdoors, can be improved significantly.
Light rays which are reflected by any surface become polarized and polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camara lens. Designed to help optimize outdoor picture taking, this filter is among the most popular filters in use. A Circular Polarizing filter has a convenient control that lets you rotate the optics to adjust and reduce reflected light to help obtain the desired ...
Light rays which are reflected by any surface become polarised and polarising filters are used to select which light rays enter your camara lens. They allow you to remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water, glass etc. They also saturate colors and increase contrast. Polarizers come in two variations but have the same effect. Linear polarizers work with older camera m...

The perfect solution to transform a pallid sunrise or sunset into something spectacular. A neutral density 0.6-to-clear is often best for balancing sky to foreground....
Reduces the amount of light passing through the camera lens without changing the color of the scene. This filter is especially useful in bright light conditions. Allows proper exposure at a wider lens opening when reducing depth of field to highlight a key subject by making the foreground and/or the background out of focus. A slower shutter speed can be used to produce blurred motion effects....

Neutral Density Camera What digital camera has the lowest ISO setting?
What digital camera has the lowest ISO setting? I know there are digital cameras that go up to 1600 ISO or more, but what about the other extreme? Do any digital cameras go well below 100 ISO. I'd like to be able to take a time exposure (15 seconds?) in broad daylight with mechanically attaching a neutral density filter.
The old Nikon Coolpix 8700 & 8800 point & shoot models had 50 ISO. Neither one had a lens thread but they did have an optional adapter tube for a filter thread. (both models provide 8 megapixels and good image quality.)
If you're looking for a dSLR, the Canon 5D and 1D models have 50 ISO.
Compared to any ordinary 100 ISO camera, that provides one extra stop. The right ND grad filter can provide 8 or 9 stops by itself... And you can stack filters.... Alternatively, you could do a time lapse and merge those pictures. (say, 3 to 10 shots over a 15 second period.)
Since it has no effect on lens color balance (visible lights), this filter is optimal for use as a lens protector. Also, its multilayer coating prevents light reflection inside the glass, helping to ensure correct exposure. Can be used as a filter for general shooting situations....

Filter Hoya Nikon SLR Camera Filter - UV vs. ND Clear?
I bought two filters for now for my Nikon D300. One is a Nikon 72mm Circular Polarizer II, and a Nikon 72 NC clear Protector filter. I can not find a Nikon 72mm UV filter. I am wondering if this clear filter can do the same, or, very close work like the UV filter. I see Hoya, Tiffen, Master, they all have 72mm UV filters. Do I need to buy other filters? I can adjust the white balance, etc., in my camera. Please advise. Thank you. Also, if I have a UV, or a Clear filter on my camera, I put a Circular Polarizer over it to enhance the sky, Is it O.K. to do that? without remove the protective filter (clear, or UV) first? Thank you.
Since digital sensors are not as sensitive to UV as is film and UV filters are there mainly to protect the front element of your lens, the 0 ND will be fine ... stacking filters is not recommended. The more lens to air surfaces there are the greater the chance of flare. Also staking filters can introduce vignetting.
Unless you are shooting landscapes as your predominant subject, just exchange the filters as needed.
